Why the constitution was created
The constitution was created to fix the problems that the first form of government, the Articles of Confederation, created. You see, the Articles of Confederation gave too much power to the states, this means that there was a weak central government. This was the case because the framers of the Articles didn't want what was happening in England to happen in the US. In England there was a monarchy that was the absolute source of power, the king was the only person to have any power. However, despite their good intentions the framers of the Articles gave too much power to the states, now nothing could get done, and the U-N-I-T-E-D States of America was not united at all. The people also started to notice the Article's failures. In fact they resented the way things were going so much that they started a rebellion, Shay's Rebellion. This rebellion was soon stopped, but the main idea of their rebellion got through to congress. Congress rejected the Articles and started anew with what would soon be called the Constitution. In this website learn what was changed and what was the original document laid out, all in modern wording that is easy to understand.
